In Assam No Jobs For People With More Than Two Children , Free Education For Girls Up To University Grade
We will seek public suggestions till July. Then it will go to the assembly for debate and adopting a resolution
The Assam government today declared a draft population policy which suggested no government occupations with greater than two children for people and making education up to university level free for girls in the state. We have implied that those with over two kids will not qualify for practically any government occupations," Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Any individual who gets a job after satisfying this state will need to keep it until the end of his service, he added. "The two-kids norm will likely be relevant for employment generation schemes like giving tractors, offering houses and others authorities benefits too. Besides, all elections for example panchayats, municipal bodies, and sovereign councils will even follow this," he said.
Sarma, who's also the Education Minister, said the policy also aims to give free education to all women up to university level. This measure will even encourage girls to accomplish their education," he added.
The suggested population policy will also push for increasing the legal age of marriage from 18 years for girls and 21 years for boys. The policy will even seek stringent laws to stop violence and sexual abuse of girls, he added.
The minister said he'll consider including a provision for 50 per cent reservation for women in government jobs and elections. "We will seek public suggestions till July. Afterward, it's going to go to the assembly for debate and adopting a resolution," Sarma said.
