Game Of Thrones S06E09 : Here’s All You Should Know About The Actor Who Performs The Epic Wildling Giant Wun Wun
(SPOILER ALERT - Please don't read further if you haven't watched episode 9 of season 6 of Game of Thrones)
We observed among the most grisly battles in Game of Thrones history. The battle of the bastards had lots of action, VFX, drama and a lot of hard work went into making that episode.
Starks eventually regained Winterfell but in the process, many characters expired. The mourned death is mind you Rickon Stark also died in this very episode and of the giant Wun Wun. Wun Wun was instrumental in helping Jon Snow get Winterfell again; he finished his job, actually smashed the large gates and sacrificed his life.
But do you understand how they created the giant on screen? First thing you should be aware of is that the actor who is playing Wun Wun is not any less than a giant.
Ian Whyte is really 7 feet and 1 inch tall!
The best amalgamation of computer images & costumes created Wun Wun.
"We made a huge foam suit which he fits into and then the costume department wrapped him with animal pelts, a variety of bones and things. He'd quite an extensive silicone rubber prosthetic makeup on his head."
And rest of the magic was created via green screen
Whyte used to be a basketball player for the Newcastle Eagles before joining the show business,!
The actor-stuntman also had roles in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, Alien vs. Predator, Prometheus and few other pictures
Perplexed where you saw him in Harry Potter? He was playing a stuntman Headmistress of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, for Madame Olympe Maxime. So Wun Wun was not the first time he was playing a giant.
Jokes apart, we'll miss Wun Wun in Game of Thrones and so would the Wildling military.
